Advanced Practice Practitioners (APPs) must complete 24 hours of specialized training to obtain a waiver to prescribe buprenorphine—an eight-hour MAT waiver training course plus an additional 16 hours of training. Until now, the additional 16 hours has primarily been available through online, pre-recorded modules.
Boston Medical Center’s OBAT TTA is proud to announce a new no-cost, live training series that will provide APPs the additional 16 hours to meet these requirements. This training was developed by and for APPs.
The 6th session in this series is titled " Substance Use in Adolescents, Older Adults and Persons with Brain Injuries." It will be offered February 13th from 10am-12pm ET.
Nurse Practitioners, Certified Nurse Midwives (CNM), Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS), Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA), and Physician Assistants
Recognize adolescents and young adults as a special population receiving SUD treatment
Describe at least 3 major substances of use in adolescents and young adults
Identify at least 3 barriers to treatment of SUD experienced by adolescents and young adults
Indicate at least 2 strategies to improve SUD treatment for adolescents and young adults
Review the prevalence of substance use disorders in older people and in those with a brain injury or cognitive impairment
Describe the signs and symptoms of substance use and misuse in older people and in those with a brain injury or cognitive impairment
Recognize the psychopharmacology of substance use disorders in older people and those with a brain injury or cognitive impairment
Bureau of Substance Addiction Services (DPH/BSAS), Providers Clinical Support System (PCSS), and Boston Medical Center Office Based Addiction Treatment and Technical Assistance (BMC OBAT TTA).
American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry (AAAP) is the DATA 2000 sponsor for this waiver training.
