As part of the twice-monthly MA OBAT ECHO series, Zev Schuman-Olivier, MD, will present the didactic entitled "Mindfulness-Based Interventions (MBI) for Substance Use Disorders." The didactic will be followed by a related de-identified patient case presentation from an ECHO participant along with recommendations from the panel of experts and attendees.

Boston Medical Center's (BMC) 12-part Massachusetts Office Based Addiction Treatment ECHO® (MA OBAT ECHO®) offers training and support in addiction treatment, with a focus on comprehensive care for patients with substance use disorders (SUDs). The free, case-based tele-education program is designed to increase the capacity of health care providers to implement high-quality addiction treatment within primary care settings in Massachusetts.
Nurse practitioners (NP), medical doctors (MD), nurses (LPN/RN), social workers (LCSW/LICSW), Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselors (LADC), Certified Alcohol/Drug Counselor (CADC), Community Health Workers (CHW), recovery coaches, counselors, Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHC)
At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be better able to:
1) Describe how mindfulness-based interventions (MBI) can catalyze behavior change
2) Recognize the concept of therapeutic neuroplasticity and mechanisms of mindfulness in addiction treatment and recovery
3) Explain evidence on mindfulness-based interventions.
4) Identify mindfulness resources for healthcare personnel and patients

PLEASE NOTE: This session is only open to those formally enrolled in the MA OBAT ECHO 12-part series. If not formally enrolled as of December 20219, you will not be eligible for CEs.
1.5 hours of continuing education units will be granted to all nurses, LMHCs, MDs, PAs, LCSW/LICSWs, and LADC/CADCs who attend and complete the evaluation within 48 hours. Certificates of Participation will be granted to recovery coaches and CHWs who attend and complete the evaluation within 48 hours.
