Description

Advanced Practice Practitioners (APPs) must complete 24 hours of specialized training to obtain a waiver to prescribe buprenorphine—an eight-hour Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) X-Waiver training course plus an additional 16 hours of training. Until now, the additional 16 hours has primarily been available through online, pre-recorded modules.

Boston Medical Center’s OBAT TTA is proud to announce a no-cost, live training series that will provide APPs the additional 16 hours to meet these requirements. This training was developed by and for APPs.

The 8th session in this series is titled "Lab Testing in Assessment of SUDs and Regulatory Issues." It will be offered June 24th from 7am - 9am ET.

Intended audience

Nurse Practitioners, Certified Nurse Midwives (CNM), Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS), Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA), and Physician Assistants

Speakers

Vanessa Loukas, MSN, FNP-C, CARN-AP

Vanessa is a Clinical Nurse Educator for Boston Medical Center's OBAT Technical Assistance Team. She is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner receiving her Masters of Science in Nursing at Simmons College, and she is also board certified in Advance Practice Addictions nursing through the Addictions Nursing Certification Board (CARN-AP). Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, Vanessa worked as a registered nurse in acute treatment services and medical stabilization programs.

Nancy Regan, NP, CNM

Ms. Regan is the Manager of the Substance Use Disorder Program at the Community Health Center of Cape Cod. She is also a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner in the Mashpee Office. Prior to CHC of Cape Cod, she worked at High Point Treatment Center in Jamaica Plain, MA for three years, which is a 30-bed acute detox and inpatient unit. She also worked in the High Point Outpatient Treatment Program/Methadone Clinic. Ms. Regan was a Family NP in South Boston Community Health Center from 2011-2014 and was Manager of the Obstetrics Department. She obtained a MSN in Midwifery in 2017 and is a certified Midwife (CNM).
