This training focuses on specific treatment needs of individuals with substance use disorder who are experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity. The session will cover major substances of use among this population, proper use of medications for opioid use disorder, and strategies for improving treatment among homeless and unstably housed patients. It will also address local housing options and emergency assistance resources in Brockton and throughout Massachusetts.

Nurses and the entire multidisciplinary team providing treatment for substance use disorders in an office-based setting in the Brockton Area.

Paul Bowman, CMA, Peer Recovery SpecialistAs former Department of housing and Community Development regional Supervisor for Both the South Shore and Boston Paul was responsible for benefits and eligibility for the emergency assistance programs and other state managed entitlement programs. As state employee for 28 years he has worked in many different roles of policy and recipentient services. Paul is a person in recovery and works at the South end community health Center and is the Massachusetts director of NAMA Recovery a national nonprofit who mission is to provide educational and advocacy support to people on MOUD.

Boston Medical Center grants 1.00 hours to all RNS who attend, complete the evaluation, and complete the post test. Boston Medical Center is approved as a provider of continuing professional development by American Nurses Association, Massachusetts, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
Boston University School of Social Work which is authorized through the MA state board of Social Work to provide 1.00 CE Credit Hours.
