Advanced Practice Practitioners (APPs) must complete 24 hours of specialized training to obtain a waiver to prescribe buprenorphine—an eight-hour MAT waiver training course plus an additional 16 hours of training. Until now, the additional 16 hours has primarily been available through online, pre-recorded modules.
Boston Medical Center’s OBAT TTA is proud to announce a new no-cost, live training series that will provide APPs the additional 16 hours to meet these requirements. This training was developed by and for APPs.
The 2nd session in this series is titled "Medical Considerations for People with SB and Addressing Polysubstance Use." It i will be offered October 27th from 4pm-6pm ET.

Nurse Practitioners, Certified Nurse Midwifes (CNM), Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS), Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA), and Physician Assistants
Recognize skin and soft tissue infections in people who inject drugs
Educate individuals about risk factors and risk groups for Hepatitis C and HIV
Describe prevention interventions for HCV and HIV including effective addiction treatment, harm reduction and behavioral risk reduction, and antiviral agents
Discuss how treatment regimens for both HCV and HIV are highly effective in patients with OUD and can be safely used with opioid agonist and partial agonist therapy
Diagnose and formulate a treatment plan for misuse and use disorders of the following substances: Benzodiazepines, Cocaine and other stimulants, Alcohol, Tobacco and Patients engaging in polysubstance use
Bureau of Substance Addiction Services (DPH/BSAS), Providers Clinical Support System (PCSS), and Boston Medical Center Office Based Addiction Treatment and Technical Assistance (BMC OBAT TTA).
American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry (AAAP) is the DATA 2000 sponsor for this waiver training.
