Advanced Practice Practitioners (APPs) must complete 24 hours of specialized training to obtain a waiver to prescribe buprenorphine—an eight-hour MAT waiver training course plus an additional 16 hours of training. Until now, the additional 16 hours has primarily been available through online, pre-recorded modules.
Boston Medical Center’s OBAT TTA is proud to announce a no-cost, live training series that will provide APPs the additional 16 hours to meet these requirements. This training was developed by and for APPs.
The 1st session in this series is titled "Screening, Assessment, and Treatment Initiation for SUDs." It i will be offered November 16th, 2020 6pm-8pm ET.
Nurse Practitioners, Certified Nurse Midwifes (CNM), Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS), Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA), and Physician Assistants
Identify the spectrum of substance use
Describe neurobiological responses to substances
Describe the basic epidemiology and public health impact of the disorder
Describe how concepts of chronic disease treatment apply to addiction
Screen and assess for substance use disorders (SUD) and co-morbid disorders
Utilize Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) strategies and principles
Describe continuum of care and models of SUD treatment
Bureau of Substance Addiction Services (DPH/BSAS), Providers Clinical Support System (PCSS), and Boston Medical Center Office Based Addiction Treatment and Technical Assistance (BMC OBAT TTA).
American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry (AAAP) is the DATA 2000 sponsor for this waiver training.
