This drop-in session is open to nurses around the country. It will include a short presentation of a pertinent topic related to SUD and will include time for questions and answers, a chance to get input and support on cases, and an opportunity to network with your fellow addictions nurses.

Speakers

Marjory Ditmars, RNc

Marjory is a registered nurse working the Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. Marjory is a dedicated leader, mentor, and collaborator with over 15 years experience working with vulnerable populations. Marjory has been working at Insite, North America’s first Supervised Injection Site, for the last 10 years, both as a clinic nurse and more recently as Insite’s Clinical Coordinator. Marjory is also an experienced street outreach nurse with the vulnerable women’s intensive case management team. Prior to nursing, Marjory worked as a support worker with survival sex trade workers and continues to offer support and care to marginalized and vulnerable populations. Marjory is passionate about building awareness, dialogue, compassion, and advocacy for vulnerable populations. She will be starting her MSN-NP in primary care at the University of British Columbia this fall.

Mina Karimi, RNc, InSite Clinical Coordinator

Mina is the incoming Clinical Coordinator at InSite, North America’s first legal supervised injection site which first opened September 2003. Mina has been working in harm reduction and addictions care since 2016, mainly at InSite as well as Downtown Eastside Connections Clinic, a low-barrier Opiate Agonist Treatment (OAT) clinic in the Vancouver area.Additionally, Mina has had outreach nursing experience in the Downtown Eastside (DTES) as well as Public Health experience with school-aged children and youth in South Vancouver. Mina is passionate about providing trauma-informed harm reduction based nursing interventions and advancement of nursing practice and scope in addictions medicine. Mina received her BScN from Langara College in 2016.
